Challenge

Kennon Campers sells modified camper vans that make travelling as comfortable as possible. This client had a rough idea of what they wanted their brand to be but had trouble visualising it, I wanted to really bring out the personality of the business through the identity. They also needed a website for presenting a showcase of their vans and as a contact point.

Solution

Working closely with the founder, I discovered they regularly use the VW California for his custom builds, which has a nice badge that uses an ‘a’ with an elongated finial on it. I wanted to work this visual into the logo to make it feel more personal.

Hitting the open road in your camper brings connotations of freedom and easy living, which align with the California mindset. This heavily inspired the visual identity from the colour palette, to the typography, to the off-kilter shapes used to anchor the images on the website. It's important to me to really capture the personality of the business.

The website serves as shopfront for the business to showcase the previous camper conversions. It explains the different ways they do business and encourages potential clients to get in touch. Overall, the client and I were really happy with the visual execution of the brand. They have a unique look and feel that captures the carefree spirit of travelling around in your custom camper van.

“My website was completed well before the deadline and looks amazing while everything worked perfectly first time off. I was particularly pleased with the colour palette and it’s application to other marketing collateral for my business - something else Matt took care of. I have had nothing but compliments about my web site, business cards etc and customers love it.”
