Challenge

A smart sub-metering company with an app that aims to give greater visibility to landlords with multiple occcupancies and to the tenants own energy usage. Starting from a blank slate, the company needed a name and basic visual identity.

Solution

Uniquely, the benefit of the product applies to both tenant and landlord, so when developing name, the word 'My' adds a sense of ownership. 'Unit' is a reference to both individual retail/housing units in a block and units of energy for tenants. The unit icon is a combination of a block of flats and energy meter. The visual identity is intended to appeal to the consumer so the font is bold and playful and the colour palette is bright and energetic. Using the unit shape as a repeated pattern can add brand equity where needed and reinforces the 'one part of many' messaging.
